Did you know that African American young men only graduate High School on time (4 years) 48% of the time in the USA. In Chicago and New York City that rate drops to 34% and 26% respectively?

The bigger question is, How do you feel about this? And What do you think should be done about it?

After all young men and young women must be supported and promoted by our local communities, setting the example for our regional and national representatives. We must provide for them and assist them in developing the skill set that is going to allow for each of them to be competitive in a fast paced society where information and distractions are coming at you from all directions more than ever in history.

The Gentlemen of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated Rho Psi Lambda Chapter, Bronx, New York (06 In The BX) is doing just that.

These Men have partnered with the Broadway Play, Produced by Grammy Winner Alicia Keys to host ALPHA NIGHT ON BROADWAY (Sunday November 20, 2011).

This event will feature, a 5:00 PM Reception at B. Smith’s on Restaurant Row, A 7:30 PM Live Performance of the Play STICK FLY and a Question & Answer Session Exclusively for the Guests of the Rho Psi Lambda Chapter.

All proceeds from Rho Psi Lambda Guest will benefit the Chapter’s 2012 Historically Black College and University Tour & College Boot Camp. Higher Learning Institutions such as: Howard & Hampton Universities will be visited and in addition both schools have agreed to host College Boot Camp.

“This will allow for our program participants who will be matriculating in the Fall Semester to become acclimated to Campus Life over a six week period during the Summer of 2012, prior to the start of the Fall Semester ” says Keith Howard, Rho Psi Lambda Chapter President.

The current economic climate nationally and internationally has many individuals in a state of confusion due to unstable conditions. This begs the question, WHAT ARE PEOPLE GOING TO DO ?? How can people not just survive these economic up and downs but how can they thrive?? These are the major questions, that to some seem unreal. Some individuals will say, Thrive?? We will be happy if we simply maintain. If that is how you want to look at things I imagine that is okay for the person with that kind of thinking. However, it will not be okay for the vast majority.

Unemployment is steadily between 9.2% to 9.6% that translates into 14,265,000 people. THAT’S UNACCEPTABLE !!!! in a country that is the leader of the FREE WORLD. The harsher reality is that the way things are looking, 58.5% of Americans are going to spend at least one year of their adult life in poverty and 70% of the people are living pay check to pay check. If we do not begin looking  at developing multiple streams of income and owning assets we are going to have a  far deeper reaching problems than what already exists.

As working individuals who are striving to provide for our families and ourselves we have to investigate ways that will allow for us to be paid multiple times for every hour that we work and develop income streams that will flow with out you physically being present. When this is accomplished not only will you be financially independent but those income streams will be able to continue flowing for your family after you have passed on. That’s correct you can take action now and begin developing GENERATIONAL FINANCES THAT CAN CONTRIBUTE TO YOUR FAMILY LEGACY.

With 55% of Americans always concerned about money and spending $1.22 for every $1.00 that is earned, something has to be done. Paying the price at both ends of the stick could be your answer. Providing you do not know, Linear Income is not going to do this for you. Trading time for dollars at your job is not the answer. What’s Happening Everyone:
The more I think about the state of our economy the more I realize how urgent it is for us tonel.htm’>to not wait for anyone in the entertainment industry to make something happen for us. We as creative individuals have to be intuitive enough to make in roads for our selves.

Well you may ask, How do I do this ?? You have to work hard yes, but you must work hard SMART. Let me qualify this for you. You must bring yourself FROM CONCEPTION TO INCEPTION AND TAKE SIX STEPS TO MAKING YOUR DREAM A REALITY:
1. Know your end result.
2. Marry Your Idea.
3. Apprehension (does not exist when marry idea).
4. Network With A Purpose.
5. Self Analysis.
6. C.A.P. (consistent action plan)

This is the formula that I created for myself and now I am sharing it with you. The the absolute truth is that whatever you focus on is your reality. I choose to focus on the aforementioned 6 principles that allow me to propel forward to each one of my committments in each area of my life.

This is all too important especially when you are producing projects independently, focus and the ability to see projects through to the end is a major task. In order to be ready you must have a strategy for with out one it is as bad as being lost in the desert.

Hey Good People:
Did you realize that Hip Hop Culture world wide is 500 Billion dollar industry. Yes a half of a Trillion dollar industry. Some have a hard time talking about a million dollars but this is exactly what we are dealing with. Lets for instance take this in to consideration. The music, management, shows, promoters, publicists, movies, producing, sampling, ringtones, publishing, the over seas market. There are so many ways to create finances not to mention commercials and jingles that people fail to realize that this Hip Hop has certainly done so much for the Global Economy but yet the only issue that gets talked about is the violence. Understand all I am talking about is checks and balances. If we are going to report on this lets be fare. There are certainly many issues that need to be worked on with Hip Hop as we know it, but we can not escape the financial lift it has given to the economy.

What is probably far more reaching is that 70% of Hip Hop music is purchased by young white suburban youth, which means that the culture is also doing something in regards to race relations (This is something we will talk more in depth about in a later Blog).

Right now, as I write there are so many independent producers that are looking to get their piece of the Hip Hop Multi Billion Dollar Pie. What is even more interesting than that is there are really only about a dozen or so true Millionaires in the industry who are artists. When I say Millionaire I qualify this by saying. They can cut a check for a $1,000,000 and still have millions in the bank. So, saying that to say what?? Hip Hop has been around since 1973, thanks to Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash and Kool Herc. But we only have a few truly Rich people who are artists. I for one do not want a piece of the pie, I want the recipe. Yes, I think we should all have our own recipe. This is why I choose to do things independently with others who have a similar mindset. We work together on a project to project basis. Let me first take this opportunity to thank all of you for your comments on our new blog. This is certainly a labor of love for assisting people and networking with a true purpose of making business happen. This happens for one particular reason. As independent producers often time we spend so much time producing our projects that we are just concerned with finishing the darn thing and finishing it well. Then we move on to post production, this is when many producers start slipping, for by now money is becoming short or is gone all together. Now if you are able to move through post you often become like a fish out of water when it comes to marketing or making efforts to find a distributor. Maybe you contemplated doing your own marketing and it was overwhelming, you just did not know how to Brand Market via Street Promotions or set up your own self imposed film festival/screening circuit. I know folks, sounds like a lot and it is. However, for many of you reading this you have already achieved becoming a genuine producer by creating and producing your project, be it music,film or video. THIS IS WHAT WE DO. You know what really eats away at me. There are so many independent producers out here either making a sincere effort to produce their brand of music or video/film. The disheartning feeling that I experience is that 98% of them can not get a break, for they do not have a vehicle to give them the financing for their projects. The major corporations are not willing because they are too busy laying people off and these producers just are unable to find a method of making this happen.
